Wearables and Digital Biomarkers for Cardiovascular Diseases and Neuroscience
Wearable sensors are already part of everyday lives of many people. From tracking steps to heart rate, the technology has continuously advanced. In parallel, medical research is equally advancing the monitoring of medical data in a non-invasive way - and the prospect of using it not only for diagnostic, but even therapeutic purposes.
In the workshop "Wearables and Digital Biomarkers for Cardiovascular Diseases and Neuroscience", researchers from Universities and ETHs, industry partners and medical doctors present the current possibilities of wearable biomarkers and their significance for the future.

Professor János Vörös
Prof. Vörös has a PhD in Biophysics from the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. In 1998 he came to ETH Zurich where he is now a Professor in the Institute for Biomedical Engineering of the University and ETH Zurich (Department for Information Technology and Electrical Engineering) heading the Laboratory for Biosensors and Bioelectronics since 2006.

Professor Andrew Chan
Prof. Chan is Deputy Head of the Department of Neurology and Director of the University Outpatient Neurocentre (ANZ) of the Bern University Hospital (Inselspital). In addition to general neurology, his scientific interests include neuroimmunological disease patterns such as multiple sclerosis, collagenoses/vasculitides, inflammatory neuropathies and muscle diseases as well as myasthenia gravis. Prof. Chan has received several awards for this research and is represented on international committees.

Moritz Thielen is an engineer and scientist combining world-class research (ETH, MIT, NUS, IMTEK) with a wide range of industries (neurotech, sensors, energy harvesting, MEMS, printing). He is passionate about bringing disruptive technologies from the lab into the market. At IDUN, Moritz is responsible for the R&D vision and strategy, team, IP and neuroethics.

Prof. Dr. med. Hildegard Tanner
Prof. Tanner is an Associate Professor of Cardiology and Senior Consultant clinical Electrophysiology in the Department of Cardiology at the University Hospital, Inselspital, Bern, Switzerland. She is a Senior Lecturer at the Medical Faculty of the University of Bern. Her research interests include noninvasive and invasive diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmias and interventional treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

Alex has spent many years innovating in a broad range of industries like cardiac surgery, dental diagnostics, humanoid robotics, neuro rehabilitation, pharma, packaging and energy systems. He co-founded evismo in 2018 to leverage todays technologies for a new medical diagnostic as a services approach.
